Suzuki's new DF140B outboard engine benefits from developments that further improve its overall performance. The compression ratio has been increased to 10.6:1, allowing this 2-liter outboard engine to further improve top speed and achieve better acceleration while optimizing thermal efficiency.

Fuel efficiency has also been improved compared to the DF140A model, which is well known to the brand's customers. Tests have shown a 5 to 6 % improvement in fuel consumption for the DF140A over a medium to high speed range.

The new fairing adopts a special air intake that optimizes water separation while reducing the intake air temperature, which allows for higher power delivery at mid-range speeds. A resonator system further reduces engine noise at all speeds.

The new direct ignition reduces the number of parts and wiring, which allows for better ignition spark generation and improved combustion efficiency.

The main difference with its “little brother” DF115B is that it gets its power from a higher rev range.
